Independent, research-based reviews of AI tools
SaaSIndex helps business owners, freelancers, creators and students choose AI tools that are worth paying for. No tool can pay for a place on this site or a better score.
What we do
We research AI tools the way a careful buyer would, only more thoroughly: vendor documentation, published pricing and plan limits, product changelogs, and patterns across aggregated user reviews. Then we score each tool on the same four factors and explain who it suits.
We are open about our method. Our reviews are based on independent editorial research and platform evaluation, not hands-on testing, and each review says so. Where a review draws on a specific source, it is named.
Only tools worth recommending
SaaSIndex is a recommendation site. A tool only earns a review once it clears a baseline for quality, value and reliability, which is why published scores sit in a narrow band. If a tool stops clearing that bar (it shuts down, is acquired and stops selling to individuals, or its quality slips), we remove it and point readers to a better option rather than keep it listed.
What we cover
42 tools across 11 categories, plus shortlists for specific readers:
How ratings work
Every review has a score out of 5, built from the same four factors every time:
A $16-a-month tool that does its job well can outscore a $100-a-month tool that only partly does. Roundups rank tools strictly by score; where tools serve different jobs, each pick is labelled with the reader it suits best.
Prices and plans are re-checked regularly, and every review shows the date it was last verified.
How the site is funded
Some links on SaaSIndex are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never affect a score, a ranking or whether a tool is included, and we do not accept payment for reviews or placements.
